Irish Fiddle (instructor: Dan MacDonald):
Starts Wednesday, January 25th. Hope House, 75 Cork St., Guelph. Classes start 7 and 8:30 p.m.
Time to start up fiddle classes at Riverside Celtic College in Guelph for the winter term! Please get in touch if you'd like to join either of the classes. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hoping to see some new faces. The first classes will be Wednesday January 25th and the course will run until March 15th and will end with a wrap-up session at the Albion on March 26th at 7 p.m.
Tunes and Techniques: 7 pm This class is designed for beginners and people who have been playing for a little while. In "Tunes and Techniques" we strengthen fundamental skills on the instrument - intonation, sound production and rhythm - through the use of exercises and new repertoire. Students will emerge from this class stronger all around players.
Advanced Irish Fiddle: 8:30 pm This class is designed for people who already play some tunes but would like to expand their repertoire and focuses on the finer points of ornamentation, bowing and rhythm particular to the Irish sound. Students will emerge from this class with a more extensive repertoire, including tunes commonly used in sessions throughout the world.
The semester has 8 weeks of classes held at Lakeside Hope House 75 Norfolk St., Guelph and a final wrap up session/celebration upstairs upstairs at the Albion, on March 26, to finish. 9 weeks all together. The cost for the classes is $240. All music is learned by ear and sheet music can be provided.
Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to join up or chat about it at all. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone me at 647-444-1548. Thanks everyone and I hope to see you in Guelph!
