The main purpose of this site is to give some shape to folk & folk-oriented activity in this area and (of course) to share my love of folk music. Obviously I'm going to do my best to promote the superb performers I've gotten to know over the years. I might even indulge in a wee bit of shameless self-promotion, but I'll try to keep it subtle, okay? |

Jim Dorans' superb site for learning tunes on fiddle including instruction on many diverse aspects of fiddle playing and classical violin technique. In some cases other melody instruments are referenced although the technical side is entirely fiddle based. The site contains video and audio instruction and tune clips as well as adding new tunes to the repertoire on a regular basis. To round things out there is a discussion forum for chat and help and 'The Fingerboard' which illustrates notes and positions as well as some 'Fun Stuff'. Check it out! |
